DR. HARPAL SODHI
The World of Art is a passion and the Eden of her life, Dr. Harrpal Sodhi was born on 14 Feb. 1954, she has been painting since the age of 9. Her achievement in attaining the Bachelors Degree with Distinction in Drawing & Painting; Masters in Arts and then Ph. D. with completing research in the paintings of Pablo Picasso and MF Husain, proves that her soul is fully dipped in the essence of creative art. She also derives pleasure in writing on art and spiritualism.
Dr. Harpal’s latest works of Art are related to Abstract Art and American contemporary art. Her creative oil paintings on canvas are found in several private collections and have been exhibited in numerous art galleries within the passed three decades.
Presently she is living in Edison, New Jersey.

- Artist’s Statement
Paintings are as silent global language. Our global human society is divided by languages, customs, religions, economic developments and geographical location but the visual language in the form of paintings has united the global society. All my paintings project a silent language of colors and forms.
I have been inspired by the fabulous modes of nature and started painting a series of landscapes that speak about the natural beauty around us.
The other series that I am working on is abstract painting “Creation; Symbols of Power; Merry Forms and on Nature, which depicts the subconscious observation of sight giving birth to unusual forms.
The creativity in paintings continues to provide pleasure and information to the observers of the present day. Art becomes a record of an age and a celebration of various cultures.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR AN OIL PAINTING ON CANVAS TO DRY?
My paintings with thick application of colors takes 20 to 30 days in North USA (NJ: NY). Thin coat of colors takes 7 to 15 days.
