Profile Information

About Me:
I was born and grew up in New York City. My first love was poetry and I attended the Writer’ Workshop at the University of Iowa. I did graduate work at New York University in English Literature. I worked in Journalism for several newspapers including the New York Times.
I am a self taught painter who has explored a variety of mediums
including oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, collage, mixed media, enamel etc.
My most recent shows were at the Williamsburg Art & Historical Center in Brooklyn, NY (a group show called Brave Destiny) and a one man show at Wisdom House in Litchfield County, CT.
Are You artist?
Yes
About my art
A poet and songwriter for many years, I stumbled into painting 20 years ago after
the loss of my eldest son. Painting became a way for me to transform my relationship with him from a material into a spiritual context.
Since then painting has become a way for me to explore and express my own soul and my spiritual relationship with life.
In the abstract paintings of the last 10 years I have tried to move beyond my own personal drama to celebrate the ongoing creation of the cosmos that all life participates in.

Life! Where did we come from? Where are we going? Out of the vastness of space a sequence of events beginning with the tiniest of life forms ignites the spiral of evolution. Through fish, plants, animals and birds the path eventually leads to mankind. A pool of life bringing water cascades from the treetops to form a pathway to a bright and hopeful future.

Dear Bruce, I started from poetry too. But to say hello, I feel to share with u, the sorrow of my fav student who lost his fiancee last week and have sent me the poem today. She was a charming beauty of 23 lost in Leukemia. Her name was 'Poonam' what means 'the Full Moon' in Hindi. Me and my student speak in Bengali. All the Best.

Thanks for including me. I realized after I joined that perhaps it was only for women and
although I have been embracing my anima lately I am not. If you prefer to reserve this group for women I shall not be offended, but I do think women have much to offer creatively and I have much to learn from them. Hugs to you...
