Thank you Mada for wishes for Navratri. I am starting my 8 days fasting from tomorrow. I worship Goddess Durga from early childhood. 8th day I shall eat grain as during our fasting we are allowed to eat only bananas, milk, yogurt, yams, sweet potatoes, potates, greeen squash cucumber and some sweets made with yogurt. I looking forward as my granduaghter who has turned 14 months I will celebrate this festival with her. This festival all about little girls who are representation of Goddess Durga. All over in India this is widely celebrated festival.

Being a East Indian and born and raised in Delhi..India is very core of my happiness. My culture tought me to be humble and yet strong to stand against oppression and unjust! Proud to be a Indian.

Dear Friends,
Gandhi said that our world could be a better place for mankind, if we can make ourselves a better human first. It is the truest and most perfect suggestion for any individual to give a better shape of the society he/she belongs to; as a society is nothing but a collective form of individuals.
But seeing the continuous growth of destructive individualism and collective anarchy in creative fields too, I feel that we need to culture the great saying in light of our present efforts of calling in peace and end of any kind of oppression.
Where living on any uncompromising art is at stake and our aesthetic conscience is challenged, I expect you all to say whatever you feel now, about those words of Gandhi from India.

Oh, this is a very interesting group. Did you mind if I join this group without invitation?

Manashimaya wrote "I feel these days they are steadily having a separate identity in the society"

could you elaborate more on this interesting topic?

Manashimaya
Thanks your comment!
You make a great question (what position do women have in Indian society with regard to their social stature?) and I have no answer to your question but I think this is a good place to discuss such matters.
I read a lot about the descriminacion of women in india but I would like to know what think Indian women of that.
