Female Artists

Women have always been treated in unequal form in the history and in the history of art in particular. Woman's contributions in the field of art are so numerous as that of men but they have been silenced by a thick silence mantel due to the gender prejudices and for the relationships of power in the patriarchal society that have controlled the diffusion of their production and, in many occasions, have subordinated her work to that of the male artists.

Is evident the necessity that women produce culture, generate an own glance on they themselves, the men and the world, so that we are not always occasional guests in the culture . For that reason, we must respond, reflect and contribute to the transformation of the societies, being contributor of the changes experienced by all the social sectors... And in this work we are.

I think women artists from developping countries feel more acutely the prejudices against them in their work, I have received some sneering remarks from other women since I am on the internet, for some people a woman working as artist is because she has too much spare time and doesn't know what to do, otherwise she paints to draw attention to her existence which is something not approved in the society. People 's mentality is still very retarded in my country.

Madalena, i saw that you invited me to the group, but i didn't reply. yesterday, as i was busy upgrading my profile, i honestly missed an alternative respond to yes or not being an artist. i cannot declair myself to would be one, on the other hand, the way i have been challenged by art and manner of integrating it to my other expressions efforts, it has constituted my personality enormously. thus, i have a question for you and other artists of the group.
what makes a creative person to be the artist?

Yes, I agree!
because we're women we have our mothering instincts that come with our gender. And, we're totally misunderstood!
Fredia Kahlo was an amazing woman who was living with obstacles in her life. She work beyond those even though she felt the suffering inside. Her work reflects it!

thank you for putting this up.
blessings,
